Builder, I don't blame anyone. Clays was off the market for a couple of years so making a direct substitute was a very smart thing to do. It is a poorly kept secret that "some" powders have been made by others and imported or re-branded and sold. Perhaps Hodgdon is just "importing" the same powder, without the color flakes and selling it or perhaps they have decided to duplicate the powder. It does not matter. Promo, Red Dot, Green Dot, Unique and American Select have not been on shelves for several years in dependable amounts. In fact I never see Alliant powders much these days. I do see a fairly good amount of Hodgdon powders and if Hodgdon can fill the Alliant void so much the better.
I do not have a brand loyalty to one maker of powder, ammo, gasoline or auto. Now beer, trucks, sports teams and ice cream are another matter. Especially ice cream.
