Hard to tell from the photo, but the back of the sidelock doesn't look as rounded as the Brebner.

I think the issue here is one cannot identify a maker/retailer only at best a design/patent. It's clearly a snap under lever that uses a relatively full sidelock plate so is limited to patents using that. For example Brebner sold a number of actions patented by others (I have one of his original Purdey thumbhole levers for example). Similarly I have a Lang's patent underlever sold by Patrick that looks very similar to the subject here. Jeremy

Almost impossible to tell with the quality of the still but looking at the safe my money is on a Lang .

Looks to me like an 1881 Joseph Lang patent lever cocking gun. The big swivel safety on top looks like his work. It is a trigger plate action with dummy sideplates. Just an educated guess. Now if Smallbore picks up on this (where has he been lately?) he should know, as he did for a time own the company that took in Lang. Lagopus.....
