A violin case retro-fitted for a shotgun has been brought up several times so I thought I'd try my hand at one. In the following pictures you will see, I added a locking latch, put a name plate on it, removed the interior, lined with closed cell foam, partitioned and covered with green felt, the belt to hold the receiver is lined with sheep skin. I could add a belt on the outside to hold it together should the latches fail but with 3 I'm not so sure that would happen. Also has external loops to add a carrying strap.

This is what is called a 4x4 or full violin case. It will just fit a 30" barrel with dolls head. The profile is a bit high for my preference but allows for the upper case to be compartmentalized if one desired. So far I only provided for a cleaning rod.

I live in the inner city close to downtown and have always been concerned about taking guns from my vehicle to my house. Now the neighbours will cringe thinking I've taken up violin lessons.
