It's not just half the pattern is over his head when one aims at the head. The head moves quickly and any head movement can potentially defeat the shot.
My aimpoint is the base of the wattles.

Just remember that with half your shot charge over the point of aim the other half will be under. Unless you've spooked him a Gobbler's neck is rarely fully extended, so when you aim at the neck or the wattles, you're going to get some shot in the breast. At Thanksgiving, your wife will make a big deal out of that; just saying...Geo

I use an OLD K-1 Weaver and you can keep both eyes open
