I am actually surprised noone cleans as I grew up doing, but that is really why I asked the question as I am curious about the use of the barrel vise and cleaning horizontally versus vertically.
I noted some discussion of cleaning with a drill. On rare occasion I have used a drill with bronze wool on a bronze brush on occasion but do so minimally as I am concerned about barrel wear on vintage guns. While I know the bronze brush is of no danger the overall abrasion from the drill is my concern. Am I being too careful?
Probably.
What abrasion can there be from the use of a drill with a bronze brush, above the contact of the brush with the bore? Are you allowing the rod itself to scrub against the chamber or muzzle?
