I am very familiar with Lindner made guns, but have recently been looking at pre war Sauers.
Couple of questions- how do the " better" German guns compare in quality with the better American ( let's say shotguns for this discussion) lines?
As far as the basic mechanism, workmanship, fit, finish and materials ( barrels, wood)- NOT including engraving- how do you think the box locks of German design fare against the designs of Fox, Parker, Ithaca, and Smith/ Lefever( semi sidekicks)?
Also- what other quality German makers should I look for besides Sauer, Geyger, Kettner, Simson, Heym, Barella? I know that actions were outsourced to " boutique " makers, and each gun should be judged individually, but for sake of expediency, let's just consider some known makers.
Best regards,
