I just picked up my new duck gun for 2007 two weeks ago. It's a 1950 Remington 870 with the deluxe wood and a 28" modified, "turkey foot" barrel.(barrel is plain but matted)

It's in 99% condition and cost less than a flat of Kent TM. I plan to use it with steel and while I could just put another barrel on, I'd like to use it with the matted plain one it came with.

My concern is with the forcing cones. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I lengthen them before shooting steel or do the cones not matter. The choke is right around 20 points so I don't think it will be an issue.

Thanks

Tim
