I love this gun, especially its uniqueness. Also, the wood grain and color are exactly what I have come to prefer. You cannot buy a blank of this kind of rich reddish-brown English walnut with the black streaking, today.
But I really do love this coarse flat-topped checkering. Very functional, but also very attractive to my eye.

What tool/tools would you use to cut this type checkering?

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

That would be a "non fouling" bore, not a "non fowling" bore, although this is truly not a "fowling" piece. And I believe Holland and Holland may have taken their new weapon to "Hungary"for field testing, not to "hungry". Nice Lancaster, though.

I talked about the Paradox on EU forums. They felt poor showing was likely the "Indian" not the "arrow" most Englishmen not being experienced at driven big game shooting. They also said the weapon needed system to mount small electro-optical sight or low power-large FOV scope and illuminated dot with very good intensity adjustment capability.

I too enjoy flat top checkering. Martin Hagn, the custom rifle maker in Cranbrook BC, will do flat top checkering if requested. There may be a premium but I'm not sure.
