I looked it up. Apparently the oval bore was designed so muzzleloaders would be more easily reloaded using "conical bullets". These were also easier to clean. The shotgun version ("Wildfowler's Elliptical Shot Barrel") was designed for enhanced lateral dispersion of shot. How much do you thing this solid projectile version is worth?
