If you're looking for something a bit heavier from RST and your gun is 2 3/4", they make a great 1 1/4 oz pheasant load at 1200 fps. None of this crazy 1500 fps nonsense. Hard to find a quality 1 1/4 oz load at that velocity these days. Shells like that killed about a bazillion pheasants . . . before someone in the ammo industry decided that roosters must be wearing Kevlar these days. Larry do you know the pressure of that load? I don't, off the top of my head. And RST doesn't list it on their website, although they'll tell you if you ask. Judging by similar formulas for reloads, I think somewhere in the 9,000 psi range, or less. I don't worry about it, because it's a load I only use in 2 3/4" 12's that post-date the advent of the Super-X, which is a 1330 fps 1 1/4 oz load. Hey all, I use this load for late season roosters. Great load, knocks them dead, can't say enough good about them. I checked them out prior to getting some and the pressure is 7800psi (per RST). I use them in both my original 2 3/4" chambered vintage guns as well as my modern 2 3/4" guns. Like I said, a great load! Best, Greg

Even lower than I expected. It is indeed a very good load. Pretty much the old "Super Pigeon" formula, about which McIntosh, Brister, and Hill all sing the praises.

Larry, Greg, thank you for answering the question. Like you, Larry, I'm surprised it's that low. We can finally buy RST in Canada but need to order by the flat and shipping is a killer. So I am trying to figure out all the different loads that I might be interested in....and those I'm not. And, unlike down there, we can't mix and match the flats.

Thank you gentlemen, and especially dr. Drew! I have ordered a few single boxes in the expected pressure range and will proceed with pattern testing them. Beautifully browned Damascus barrels really are quite seductive...
