Grandma always told me the only "dumb" questions were the ones I didn't ask. No harm, no foul. I think you will find your LeFever one of the best classic American SxS's ever made. Have yet to see anything of that vintage as well and simply engineered. Further the stock demensions/proportions/feel/sweep are some of the finest I have ever handled.
