It was before I moved into town so that would be at least sixteen years ago that I took an interest and did a bit of research on the two Dalys.

I traced them to an owner of a car dealership in Michigan in the 1920’s they were together and for sale at that time, I have long ago forgotten other details.

I’m not sure if anyone other than a dealer has owned the pair in modern times.

Are they the same Dalys that where in the Double Gun Journal a few years back? Some one had alot of disposable income to have them built way back when. Not very practical to use so I quess that explains the high condition. Actually I wouldn't mind owning them just for the art. They are beautifull.

In most actions with a Purdey bolt, the front of the bolt rides on the portion of the front lump that is below the bite when you take your thumb off of the opening lever. The larger angle of rotation around the hinge pin demanded by an O/U that is underbolted means that the area below the bite must be greater. If that extention were not there, the bolt would snap in under the lump when the gun was in the open position, and you could not close it without pressing the opening lever again.
All the best, Mal
