I neutralize mine by washing in a strong solution of washing soda/warm water for about 10 minutes after the the last carding...then rinse them in hot water, dry, and oil........stops the rusting process dead....

BTW....mix the soda solution B4 puting the barrel in the bath, I use a plastic 5 gallon bucket about 2/3 full and keep washing, I use a rather stiff bristle brush, dont let the barrel just stand in the solution, or it tends to spot the blue.....
