dealers like to make substantial profits from their guns. They buy at auction, which in my opinion, sets the market value for the gun. Add 50% - 100% markup and it starts to get ridiculous - you are very likely not getting your money back in this life time.

That said, I have occasionally done OK buying or trading for guns I liked and later letting them go to people who wanted them more than I did.
