Here is my wife's cat and my early standard grade 12 gauge Winchester Model 21 choked Modified and full:

I finally took it (the shotgun) to where I could shoot a pattern
The cat stayed home
5 rounds, each barrel at 23 yards:

Modified Barrel:

Full Barrel:

As even I can see, both barrels are shooting quite high
Likely many pellets above the paper
I am pleased to see that the barrel marked "Full" is giving a tighter pattern

I will take the above into account my next trip to the trap line.

Shotguns sure are lots of fun

I have that cats twin. Do you want her?

I'll buy the beer when you come get it.

Oh, nice gun, by the way.

If a bird comes off the ground isn't it always ascending? I like that pattern as I like a shotgun that sends its pattern above the point of aim. Its a better field gun.

That's one pretty 21! I love the very open pg stock and splinter fore end, and of course the double triggers. Way cleaner lines than I'm used to seeing. Was that the original stock design or would someone have had to specify those options? What does it weigh? Nice patterns too. Lots of guys would probably prefer a bit high to a bit low.

Just a thought, if you wanted to lower the point of impact you could always have a slightly higher bead installed on the front. This should bring your impact point down to center.

That IS a lovely gun. It's beautiful in a simple way.

I couldn't shoot it.
And those are definitely trap patterns, not field patterns.

I'd be interested to know if they were set by the rib, or set by the stock dimensions.
I couldn't live with them.
Can you measure some drop at comb, drop at heel measurements? The stock looks pretty flat, that's why I'm curious about how they accomplished the 95-5 patterns.

Out there doing it best I can.

The density of the pattern or POI or both?

What do you think that is 90% above POA for the right barrel and 95% for the left barrel? Or better?

Yeh, that would be good to have in case one gets invited to shoot with them rich folk that have pigeon's hand thrown for them or released from cages by pressing a button.

It's an academic question.
Ever seen a Trap shooter pry his barrels up using the gap between a trucks bumper and the tailgate?

I want to know if the mostly unseen rib elevated the POI or some interesting barrel work.
The stock looks pretty flat.

When I said 95-5 patterns, I meant the % of the pellets hitting above poa. And 5% is generous.

Not everything shot at is rising. Chukars fly down the mountainsaide, so do Francolin. And ducks, well, they are inclined to "drop right in".

Out there doing it best I can.
