John, the scope is stereo zoom and goes from about 5x to 20x with the turn of a knob, I usually set it around 8-10x.
Ken, the lamp is a 300w shop lamp bulb with a glass faceplate I blasted with alumininum oxide so it difuses a little. This rig is my "flying circus" and is all custom aluminum tubing for lightness. The setup I have for my permanent studio rig is heavy steel and has a fluorescent microscope ring lamp, in addition to the traditional north facing window light.
