EVERY lug I have seen ripped loose was in the arms of someone that shoots their shotgun like a rifle.
The separation comes during the shot. Not on closing.

Like you are going to crumple a rib by closing it. Sure.

And I do agree there is no reason to slam a shotgun closed like you are cracking a whip. Whether you lift the stock to the barrels or vice versa.

I'd even agree that certain barrel materials hold the lug better than others. Certain surface finishes.

But ultimately, you are plasticizing lead solder, and it starts to flow due to recoil forces.
Just like a high heel dimpling a vinyl floor.
