Thank you all for the questions.
John, the scope is stereo zoom and goes from about 5x to 20x with the turn of a knob, I usually set it around 8-10x.
Ken, the lamp is a 300w shop lamp bulb with a glass faceplate I blasted with alumininum oxide so it difuses a little. This rig is my "flying circus" and is all custom aluminum tubing for lightness. The setup I have for my permanent studio rig is heavy steel and has a fluorescent microscope ring lamp, in addition to the traditional north facing window light.

BLH - thanks for the photos and descriptions. I have heard that your basic English shooter wasn't supposed to "peak at the works." Fortunately, I'm an American - I love to peak at the works, am very interested in how the works got that way, and appreciate knowing something of the men who can make such works. Please keep such reports coming!! They are much appreciated!!

Barry (David), your Anvil case/workbench reminds me of a cased gun I sent to Beretta USA several years ago. The gun was misplaced for months so I took serious action and called a friend on the inside who had previously done work for me. I described the gun as "housed in an aluminum two gun case similar to an Anvil". In about five minutes, he called back to lament that I was claiming their "workbench", and "the gun will be ready tomorrow". Murphy

This is a picture of Mike Dow and his Irish bagpipes he built from scratch aftr a set he saw in a dusty old castle in The UK. He is an excellent woodcarver, and spent the afternoon entertaining us with the pipes as David and I worked on the pair. If you are into woodcarving he has a very interesting site http://www.archcarving.com. I enjoyed listening to his Irish pipes, and the fact that I am mostly Irish may have had a small part in it.
