Actually Can, I was thinking we might supplant the Queen pics with our spare Robert E. Lee statues from the South since they no longer seem PC around here...Geo

Oh yes...President Polk and the 54.40 or fight issue of 1844...which would have led to much of Canada west of the Great Lakes being USA. Actually it was a ploy to insure the USA had the Straits of San Juan de Fuca and Seattle as a port...which succeeded when the 49th parallel became the border. (only three great ports on the west coast of North America...San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle...Polk got them all - the one President who operated with firm Geographic national objectives.

There was some talk with the Quebec Libre stuff of the early 1960's of English speaking Canada just bailing and applying for statehood. Didn't go very far. There were also war gaming at the time which recommended Canada just disband its military and let the USA carry the load.. Canada's efforts being miniscule during the Cold War i.e. World WarIII.

Good stuff, Argo. You made me feel a bit better

Argo forgot the part where we burned down the White House. Yup....good stuff!

George, how about you keep them to remind everyone down there that the party of slavery, the party of the KKK, the party of segregation, the party that kept blacks under the hobnail boot of oppression for 100 years after your civil war, was the Democrats.

When the PC police get a little big for their britches, play them this: https://youtu.be/V7gN2EYbtgM

Well Canvasback, now I know why all those Canadian comedians come down to the good old US of A. They need to find an audience who will appreciate them. I've been in Canada two times. The first I saw nothing but snow and everyone wearing galoshes and hats with ear flaps. The second time I went to help a friend in Toronto rig his sailboat. It was May, we went sailing about 10 miles out on Lake Ontario and got hit with a snow storm. There has to be something wrong with anybody who wants to live in such a place. A snow storm in May. I'm sure that if you examine your personality deeply you will come to understand the perversity that makes you long for galoshes and ear flaps.

Nialmac, without checking the records, I suspect you had more snow this year in Philly than I did just east of Toronto on the shore of Lake Ontario. BTW, 10 miles out from Toronto is getting to within snowing distance of Buffalo. I suspect that would have been your source for the snow storm. Not Canada.

And if you either spent time helping someone rig a sailboat, or were the expert directing the fun, you clearly can't be all bad....just a bit misguided.

Canvasback, thanks for averting the invasion. Thread went off the rails pretty quickly!
I do not have specific advice for entering/leaving with guns but good on OP for looking into it. In general crossing any border with a little advance research into the other country's laws, culture, and history is always appreciated by the locals.
Why do our comics move to US? Not just for the $ but also for the wealth of material.

So where in hell were you with your matches when our Queen, Barrack Obama was living there????

It looks like the thread about the Canadians singing our National Anthem at a hockey game is all a distant memory now. Pretty soon we'll have King's buddy Dr. Gerald Bull firing his super space cannon over flood ravaged Texas, just to be a dick like Kim Jung Il.

John, in the immortal words of Cosmo Kramer: "That's gold Jerry! I tell you...gold!"

Keith you are bringing back fond memories. Gerald Bull, cannon designer to despots! We just don't have enough Canadians like Dr Bull!

I thought that was the Germans who did that in WW 2. If it was the Canadians I'm getting reparations from my cousins in the Soo next time I'm there. A case of Carling's and a dozen Tim Bits should cover it.

Just skip to 13:20 in JB's video cb. It's gold!
