You are good with a direct shipment to you with your C&R license. The only caveat is some dealers don't like to ship to C&R licensee's for whatever reason. Also, it might be different in California (being shipped from or shipped to) in regards to using a C&R license.

The rules: What is a C&R License?
A Curio and Relic License (or an 03 FFL, or C&R License) is a Federal Firearms License that was designed under the Gun Control act of 1968 to allow collectors of C&R type firearms to purchase/acquire or sell/dispose of C&R type guns in interstate commerce. There is no NICS check and the firearms can be delivered directly to your door.

I have no problem shipping to a c&r person. I do know of some dealers that say if you can currently buy currently produced ammo for it, they will only send to a ffl dealer

Shipping C&R guns OUT of California only requires you present the shipper with a copy of the receiver's C&R license (You can't get a verification from the ATF QuikCheck (Sp???) website like you can for a regular FFL because that would disclose the collector's home address, a bad thing).

Shipping a C&R gun into CA to a C&R collector's license has some CA legislative wrinkles that are explained (I think) on various forums on www.calguns.net

Not having a C&R license, I just treat C&R guns like regular guns when I have them shipped to me in CA--FFL to CA FFL if they are "allowed" handguns, FFL or individual to CA FFL if long guns. If you do the latter, make sure the FFL you are shipping to will accept guns from an individual and include a DL copy to show you aren't a minor.

And buy stock in a paper manufacturer!

A firearm also does not have to be on the published list to be considered a curio or relic. If it is 50 years or older (in month, September 1967) it is a curio or relic based on it's age.

And for all the hiccups of the C&R FFL, this is a prime reason to have one. There is a world of great guns that where made in the 50s and 60s that are now C&R eligible. And more every year!
