IJST guns typically had much nicer wood than the Champions. Not unusual to see some really nice figure. I have a set of figured semi-inletted wood for one of mine, whose wood was beyond salvaging. It's gonna be very pretty, I think.

They are a lot of fun to shoot. I use mine occasionally to shoot wobble trap ("scrap", it's called 'round here). Been thinking about taking a limit of doves with it late season this year, just for the heck of it. They usually run around .040" choke, if unmolested.

The high condition vent rib IJ single trap pictured in Frank Conley's book was from my collection. I bought it from a friend as part of a three gun group of totally rusted guns for $39.00 each. All three guns cleaned up to near mint condition, including a great EE Grade steel barrel Lefever. I installed a new Jostam pad on the Iver Johnson and foolishly sold it. It is the best one I have ever seen. I would like to have another chance at it.

As of now, I'm only doing pictures on the A.H Fox Collectors
Association, Inc., the Parker Gun Collectors Association and the Remington Society of America web sites where I can link photos directly. I deleted every photo from my old Photobucket.com account.

As to Iver Johnson single barrels, the CHAMPION SINGLE BARREL SHOTGUN was the No. 3 -- No. 312 for 12-gauge, No. 316 for 16-gauge, No. 320 for 20-gauge, No. 328 for 28-gauge and No. 341 for .410-bore. The MATTED TOP RIB SINGLE BARREL SHOTGUN was the No. 4 -- No. 412 for 12-gauge, No. 416 for 16-gauge, No. 420 for 20-gauge and No. 441 for .410-bore. The SPECIAL TRAP SINGLE BARREL SHOTGUN was the No. 26. The numbers don't appear in the earlier catalogs I have from 1919 and 1921, but begin in Catalog No. 24, which I guess to be the mid-1920s and are still in use in the 1937 Iver Johnson catalog and the 1948 Stoeger catalog.

I once had a Baker Elite engraved by Rudolph Kornbrath and an Iver Johnson Special Trap

I still have the Baker
The Iver is long gone (correct buttplate is plastic with the face of an owl the way some Parkers have a dog head. The late Bill Goforth told me that the owl was Iver Johnson's Masonic symbol

Researher, your replies and photos on the Remington and Parker web are very much appreciated. You seem to be a " book of knowledge " yourself. Thanks. Paul
