If I didn't already have a very nice 12 gauge NID I would have been interested in your gun, but not at that price.

I paid about $650 for mine about three years ago and it is in nearly as nice condition as yours. That was a good deal and I wouldn't sell it for that, but you get the idea. It's just not a $1500 gun.

The NID is a fine gun, but they can be had for relative bargains compared to most other quality makes. Maybe that's why I'm a fan of them.

Certainly no offense meant but I think the nail has been hit on the head. While condition is key- price is critical. 1500 buys a TON of vintage double these days.

I love NID's but to me that might be a thousand dollar gun and I would buy it for less if I wanted one.
For a grand an a half I would want it to be a 10 magnum or a twenty. That said good luck finding one as nice as yours.

You can buy and sell some good guns on forums such as this, but you have to remember that most of the folks here are sophisticated double gun enthusiasts who know what stuff is worth for the most part and who are looking for deals. That is just the way it is. Your gun looks plenty nice.

It is a very nice gun. I think it would have sold were it a 16 or 20 in as good condition.
The people who are interested in a gun like yours aren't getting any younger, and a 20 would be an easier sell to a guy looking for one to use.

The most useful gauge is the least sought out in old double guns at the moment. I guess, long term, I don't see that changing.

Best,
Ted

That's a pristine gun. Heavy though for bird hunting.....how much does it weigh, stock measurements, balance point, barrel length, etc.? Did I overlook that? Maybe a good gun for clays? Sweet though, in that kind of shape. However, that gun is not a svelte and racie 12 bore, which is what those looking for a 12 bore want with the exception of target shooters and they mostly want 32" barrels. Just my humble opinion though, which is what you asked. Good luck with your sale!

If your gun was stocked to someone's measurements and it was choked the way they wanted it, they would make a mistake not buying it at that price if they wanted a solid hunting gun. I would buy it but I think the NIDs with cocking indicators had more drop than most buyers like and I'll guess it is choked M&F. I could be satisfied with M&F if it fit me but I don't think it does and I'm not getting enough use out of the ones I have now.

Look at the bright side. You still have a very nice looking NID. I can't understand why in hell you'd want to sell it.

That fact that Jagermeister, a guy who doesn't own even one lousy double gun, thinks that soul-less butt ugly over-under with the poor fitting wood is a better choice further confirms that he knows nothing, has poor taste, little or no actual experience beyond drooling and tire-kicking, and simply regurgitates what he reads elsewhere.

There is excellent discussion on Guns & Ammo portion of Upland Journal BBS regarding future values of classic SxS shotguns. You should read it because it may help you make some decisions about your gun inventory.

Unlike you Jagermeister, my gun inventory contains lots of side by side doubles because that's what I like... not because I'm hung up on the idiotic notion that they will lose value at some point after I'm dead and gone. By the way, I've been hearing and reading about how they will lose value ever since I started buying them, and the prices just keep going up... even for the lowly 12 gauge field grades.

Of course, that brings us back to the question of why someone like you, who doesn't own even one lousy double, and who certainly couldn't afford the ugly $1550 over-under you provided the link to, would ever bother to post here???... other than to pathetically pretend to be something you are not, and to troll your support for anti-gun Liberal Democrats.
