I had them TOTALLY fabricate the rack, then mark the pieces, then disassemble it and ship it to me with an assembly plan.

PERFECT, they even sent the screws and all marked. The holes were pre-drilled and fitted, VERY easy.

Yes, but one must ask a question. Would any of the fine game guns shown to us (at Favorite Game/Gun.....) by one of our nicest members Gregory J Westberg belong in them?

I don't think it's "beware of the man with one gun", but rather "beware of the man who shows up with the rusty 1100". One gun.....how boring! I feel sorry for you Californians....your weather is great, but living with socialism, it sure wouldn't be worth it to me. It's hard to believe that President Reagan's California is what it is now, but it is....so very, very sad.

Socialism is almost the worst.

It should be apparent to anyone who pays a little attention that Jagermeister most likely stores his firearms in his imagination.

This is a guy who doesn't own even one lousy double, and who actually admits that he RENTS a cheap Chinese bolt action. 22 LR.

Jagermeister probably comes closest to fitting the subject of this thread... Beware the man who only RENTS one gun. He has been caught lying to us about buying other guns when he actually only had them on Layaway, and later backed out of the deals.

The rest of the old saying "Beware the man who only has one gun..." goes "He probably knows how to use it." But if you really think about it, the people who are so unfortunate to own only one gun typically aren't all that good or all that serious about shooting. It's pretty hard to take anything Jagermeister says here seriously when his interest in doubles is so shallow that he doesn't even own one.

Didn't Lou Smith of Ithaca Arms Company own one shotgun? It does happen and some are probably very good shots and hunters. I read Sam Walton used Remington 1100 (anyhow Remington made a commemorative honoring him). Not sure how many Sam owned but he does come from part of the country where they tend to hunt hard.

I wound't worry what I have and do what you like. You were born here and will "go down with the ship". I will leave the "sinking ship" if it comes to that. I won't mind if you call a RAT.

Is it not worth keeping a few of the vintage, non-steel-shot-compatible ones for hops across the state line .............. maybe the ones you shoot the best?

Nothing wrong with making the decision to cull, just do it logically.

Best wishes with the venture, sure glad it's not me. whistle

It sounds like he is selling most of his Winchesters for a few bespoke Italian guns.

Worse than buying more guns is inheriting guns. I've had my Father and two very dear-to-me friends leave me with about 15 guns in the last decade.

They wanted me to have them. To a large degree, they don't fit my style, or, my hunting. I would feel just awful selling them. I may have to, as I'm out of safe space. I've been out for a while, but, have them crammed into two different safes.

I'm down to just a few I use, or, used to use a lot more. Maybe 5 in those two catagories. Some days I contemplate trying to get down to 4 shotguns, or so, thinking a clays gun, a skeet gun, a pheasant gun, and a grouse/woodcock gun.
I suppose (if I was honest with myself) I could do all of that with a decent O/U with two sets of barrels, or a set of O/Us, a 20 and a 12.

But, I've sold a gun or two I shouldn't have, over the years, and they haunt me.

At least, as of today, nobody in state government has forced me to use specific, non toxic ammunition in my guns not designed for it. We have beat those gouls back, here, for now.

Best,

Ted
