Treb-
I have found when traveling with fine guns, unless the destination is 1st world, it just isn't worth the anxiety.

The anxiety undermines the traveling part of the experience.

Duck shooting in Pakistan would be more a "disposable auto loader, or vintage American sxs" adventure for me, alas.

I'm primarily interested in shooting migratory quail by the bushel basket, if I go.

I see your point CZ. I read where a lot of hunters traveling to other countries think the same way. Its just not worth the risk. That's my grandfather's or father's prized shotgun and they said they lost it, now what do I do? How do I get that back.

And you never know when a baggage handler is going to have a bad day. I didn't tip the guy at the curb side baggage check in one time so he slashed my suit bag open with a razor blade, what a sweetheart.

Re Mexico
I hunted 11 years ago ducks in Mexico at 3 different locations.
One has been in the Yucatan peninsula, near the place where
60+mio years ago an asteroid hit and "your and my ancestors
evolution started". This has been with an outfitter.
The two other I have been guest to a Texas entrepreneur,
married to a young Mexican,
who had a gardening centre and some other business-interest
in Mexico.
In a recent telcon I understood he does not dare to go back
to his places as he is afraid to be kidnapped or killed.
Re Pakistan
This Mexican no-go has been the reason to come up with my
post on Pakistan, assuming there must be intelligence
in this forum to sort out if it makes sense to go there.
I have an invitation from a member of the Pakistan
political Hautevolee, scion of one of these clans/tribes,
with the manners/courtesie/direct-speech of old-wealth-people.
I found quickly out that he is not kidding.
The thread is developing in the way I thought it could go.
Thanks to all for your contribution.

Felix,
I am not afraid of adventure. Great sporting risk often has great reward. We never get younger. However, our tales can always get taller. smile
Should you investigate this further, pm is always available.
