While Brownells has touted their Acraglas epoxy bedding compound as both a filler and finish for gunstocks, the use of clear epoxies for finishes is very uncommon. Are you certain that Perazzi or Beretta even use epoxy to finish their stocks?
Most epoxies begin to soften at temperatures over 160 degrees or so. The temperature used in the hot oil bending method usually exceeds that, so any epoxy that is built up on the surface of the wood could be deformed or damaged as pressure is applied in the bending jig. I was also under the impression that the stock is left clamped in the bending jig for at least 2-3 hours to slowly cool and hopefully minimize spring-back.
