Perazzi did & according to a recent review of the DC12 by Michael Yardley still does use a lacquer type finish. About 20 years ago I had the late Jack Rowe bend an MX8 for increased cast off & you couldn't tell it had been bent.
Years later I saw a video of Jack's method of bending stocks which involved wrapping the wrist of the stock with rags soaked in linseed oil & applying heat with a blowtorch until he could get the stock to move by pulling it with his hands in the desired direction & then blocking in position it & allowing it to cool.
Jack did an excellent job but I would have been a bit concerned if I had first seen the video.
I don't know what type of finish Beretta uses but I have watched a gunsmith @ the Grand bend Beretta stocks using nothing more than heat lamps on the wrist & was amazed at how pliable the stock became when heated. I do not know if this caused any issues with the finish.
This is encouraging. I'll see my smith in the new year and see what he says.
