Hey Wonko, I guess you don't see many of them there pineapples when you're visiting. Or they ain't there very long.

Now that was good. Very good! +1 Treb, thanks for the chuckle.

It looks more like a shield or a helmet as often found in old European family crests representing firearms to be used by nobility, but if you think it represents a pineapple that is entirely ok with me.

Amish hitching posts in and around Holmes County, Ohio often are marked with a pineapple. Understand it has something to do with Hospitality.

I doubt it's pineapple marking. I suspect it's corn on a cob with leaves pulled back exposing kernels. These marks are easy to confuse. For example, not long ago I examined single-action Strum & Ruger revolver chambered in 10x25mm. I spotted cute little cannabis leaf mark engraved on top strap. The salesman told me it was chestnut leaf as the gun was made for some company in Ohio where they like buckeyes. crazy

Which is the rough end of the pineapple ?

You see the pic of the finial that has three curved projections on the end of the pineapple? Those are the leaves and would be the top, as it sits on your kitchen counter. The rough end, if I understand your meaning, would be the other end, or the bottom.

It's fascinating to contemplate that this seemingly simple change in style was the result of a massive shift in global dynamics and extensive exploration that was rapidly taking place during the late 18th century.

At last! Something that actually looks like a pineapple!
