from a Limey over at trapshooters

Do you really think the Commonwealth Games (CWG) is a big deal in the shooting world? I suspect most World Class shooters around the globe have never even heard of it. The ISSF World Championship ranks above the Olympic Games in my opinion. The CWG has always lacked strength in depth because most of the world's best are excluded not being part of the "Commonwealth"..........the former old "British Empire". Compared with an ISSF World Championship, the CWG is like a garden fete and I've shot in both.

When London won the bid for the 2012 Olympics it caused a bit of a problem because target pistols were banned in the UK at the time. Special arrangements had to be introduced so overseas competitors could even get hold of their handguns at the shooting venue. The test of seeing what the reaction in England would be if the Olympics were ever to be awarded there again is above my pay grade. By that time, I suspect the UK will be a Muslim dominated country, so who knows.
