Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am looking forward to learning from y'all.
On a side note, I am kicking myself for not buying all the doubles that were in the pawn shops when I was growing up.

Learn what to buy before you start buying too much. A short list should include small bore 16 and 20 Foxes, Smiths, Parkers or good condition Lefever Ds Smallbores. Nobody every owned too many of them. Buy condition over name or shine. Others on here can explain features to look for or entire guns to avoid. And always remember guns are a hobby not an investment so buy what you like to shoot not what you hope will go up in value.

Thanks everyone. I haven't figured out yet how to quote everyone and include it in a single post.
skeettx and John Roberts
I live in Thibodaux right now and will be moving back to BR shortly. I was lucky to stumble across a business and am looking forward to not being laid off every time oil prices fall.
KY Jon
Guns should be used, shot, and loved. I don't treat them as investments. Not knocking people that do but it is enough for me to love something without having to make money off of it.
I love 16 gauge. I am trying to convince my Uncle to sell me my Dad's old Sweet Sixteen. My first side by side will be a 16. I use my Sears and Roebuck .410 all the time. Thanks for the tips on makes of guns.
Palnuc
It isn't but it would have been so much cheaper.

I live in Ruston, give me a call and we can drink something from the mountains in PA and have a review of some ratty old shotguns I keep around.

There are still plenty of great guns out there on the cheap. The lesser known English makers, French and Belgium Guild guns, fantastic upland game guns.
Find one and post a pic before you buy.

bill 251-9429 Thanks Bill. I will take you up on that offer. I have a cousin-in-law that teaches at the college there. One of my rig crews gave me something was made in the mountains of West Virginia when I was working around Pittsburgh. After drinking that stuff I think I saw angels.
