I own a FRANCOTTE side by side, serial number 80977. It was purchased around 1920. Could someone please advise where to restore it. It is located in Athens, Greece. Thank you.

I'm not an expert on double barrel guns but as a collector of other firearms it lowers the value to get a gun restored. If you mean repaired hopefully someone here can help you out.

Restoration of any American classic is expensive from a value standpoint and degrades it's value as a collector. However I would think that English and Continental guns would be different because it was common to "refresh" them every couple of years as needed.

Totally apples and oranges, but interesting, I just watched a program about violins, you can take a genuine stradivarius and replace every single peace of it except the body and not hurt the value.

I would have thought differently.

If you replace the stock on a Fox have you ruined the value of the gun?

TM,
I would certainly think so as far as a collector, but I could see it in order to get a more shootable stock that would fit you with less stock drop. I just picked up a very nice prewar Churchill that was restocked with a nice piece of walnut. It's fine with me.
