I know. Old Colonel just joined the "I can't take a picture to save my life club" on this board.
Don't worry its a big club. I never claimed to be a photographer and it shows. Lately it shows even more in terms of my picture posting capabilities. Michael

................. We do seem to have a minor difference of opinion about what brought on your earlier thread diversion........... That's OK. I'll probably never change you. And I know that you are never going to change me........ Amusing how you view others as diverting, while not seeing your own diversions. Concur you are not unique and others divert too. I doubt my comment on already existing subject within the thread are on the same level of diversion. My comment to OwD were simple this is a free speech site. I believe that nothing is going to change here, one can attack, ignore, tolerate as your options. I do not believe liberal members of this board will not convert anyone, nor will conservatives convert them. While I have ventured a few times into politics here, I realize it is more venting than useful. You are right, I will not change in my attitude that posters should conduct themselves as gentlemen. I continue to wish you well as I do any and all on this board.

What has changed here, Michael, is that members of liberal and conservative persuasion, by sticking to the purposes of the board, have quietly muted rudeness by easing it to the margins where it belongs. That's a real achievement, in the vale of tears everywhere else.

King, while you and I greatly, no very greatly, disagree on many areas, however in matters of doubleguns and general discussion, and even political discussions we are able to stay civil.
I have no doubt you will not change my outlooks in either gun control or American politics. Nor is it likely I will change yours. Though I wish you would withhold comment on American politics as I do Canadian affairs.
I prefer to generally stick to doubleguns and good natured discussions here as it is more peaceful. I encourage others to do the same.

Litmus tests, civility and diversion may be in the eye of the beholder, and some might hold the opinion that it should cut both ways. Along similar lines, equivocation might be seen as highlighting differences.

Topic went a little off topic-----I agree and disagree with prices. For short barrel sxs 26 /25 inch. I agree Prices seems to be flat and discounted. I was brought up hunting grouse in Ohio, and the group of hunting buddies i grew up with hunted with sxs, (AYAs, H&H, Ibars and 21s).. over the years, I have watched prices of AYA guns go from under a $100 to thousands of dollars. Heck, last week I picked up another AYA 25bl in 12 from a group of 10 guns my father bought back in the 70s for $900 The gun is in great shape, with a minor ding bottom of the comb. The price paid although less than a grand was 10 times more than what we paid for it in the 70.
I fear the sport of hunting and our sxs market will progressively faid, where only collectors and the aging bird hunter like most of us on this board will keep our passion alive for our younger generation of hunters. I challenge everyone to take a young hunter afield and pass on our passion of sxs as a wonderful tool for hunting as well as a functional work of art. Rich

I recently was speaking with a distant cousin of mine and he asked me why I don't come down and hunt birds anymore. He farms a relatively large amount of ground and mentioned that he had a lot of birds (pheasant & quail) again this year. He also mentioned that he no longer sees very many hunters compared to past times. But, most telling is that he said " and I haven't seen a younger hunter for years, they are all just old guys now. Like you and me." Think about that and what it means...

The problem is that most of hunting around here is by those that want to fill up the freezer meaning: deer, hogs, ducks, geese and turkeys. Recreational shooting involves doves and crows. Typical "white collar" hunter gunning for wildfowl or doves will pick self-loading Beretta, Benelli or vertical gun from Browning or Beretta. The market for SxS shotguns will get smaller and smaller as time goes on while simultaneously more will be brought to market for sale. Not good prognosis. To make matters even worse elite upland Nimrod of the future will have the means to buy the best from England, Italy,........TURKEY leaving low grade old stuff to linger on vendor shelves.
