Michael, I pledged for obvious reasons here not to comment on US political affairs some time ago, as others have with good outcomes for the board. Members discuss guns and hunting without giving cause of offence or lowering their flags for a moment. My "vale of tears everywhere" reference was an obvious generic of the current state of the world, and not a particular distinction as between house and hole.

King has pledged to stop making political commentary numerous times in the past. All of those prior pledges have been lies. Here's one from his post #264874 on 2/9/12.
There's not a soul here who's for gun control or who doesn't recognize the need of vigilance to protect our interests. Inviolable or unalienable constitutional rights on paper bear no resemblance to practice here or there. Jim recognizes it above as we all do. Whatever Dave does with this dissolving phantasmagoria, my hope is that there's a cleanup of all the political partisanship and slogans, jingoism, imputing of motives and citizenship, and it's packed it off to another place on the board. I'm here to learn about doubles. I don't give a tinker's dam about someone's father or politician unless it relates to gun provenance or some activity in the shooting sports.
We all know that King has broken that pledge 100's of times since 2012. Do you need some examples? We all know King went even more nuts after Trump beat his anti-gun Socialist choice Hillary in 2016. And even King's statement in his first sentence where he said "there's not a soul here who's for gun control" was a lie. Here is King, once again arguing in favor of laws restricting the rights of law abiding citizens:

The same goes for King Brown's frequent anti-2nd Amendment rhetoric. In this 2007 thread, you can find where King claims to finally accept that we have a Constitutional Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms. King started this thread asserting that the RKBA is a relatively recent thing:

The Court in 2008 District of Columbia v. Heller changed the 200-year-old narrowly interpreted Second from serving in the militia to an individual right. Do you favour democratic processes over justice of stacked courts?
Ed, historically the individual "right" to bear arms is relatively new. I believe John Ashcroft in 2002 became the first federal attorney-general to proclaim that individuals should be able to own guns. The Supreme Court in 2008 overturned all mainstream legal and historical scholarship by ruling that there is an individual right to own firearms although with some limits. Obama said it again last week.
I believe that during the previous 218 years the Second meant what it said: firearms shall be held by "the People"---a collective and not individual right---insofar they are in the service of "a well-regulated militia." Was an individual right even mentioned at the Constitutional Convention or in the House when it ratified the Amendment or when debated in state legislatures? I don't think so.
But as we all know, King has a long history of anti-gun, anti-NRA, and anti-2nd Amendment rhetoric. Yet it is something he will flat-out deny ever seeing here, let alone doing it. That's why I feel important to keep it as his legacy here. And if that bothers you... I can just say it never happened, right?
Is King Brown an Anti-Gunner? King preaches about manners and civility just as you do, but the man lies through his teeth, and Trolls anti-gun nonsense and Liberal Left anti-2nd Amendment lies that have been causing shit-storms on this forum for longer than I've been around.
Yet you compliment him on his manners and frequently admonish me about mine. What a f*cking joke! My opinions about King are based solely upon his own words and actions. There is no person on this forum as dishonest and as committed to undermining our gun rights as King. And it bothers you to no end that I am determined to not let him go on deceiving folks here. Why?
The concept of free speech on this forum seems troubling to you old colonel, while dishonesty and faux civility and faux manners do not. Dishonesty is not civility, and being a committed anti-gun troll on a doublegun forum is not mannerly. Pretending you have changed when you have proven time and time again that you are still a liar is disgusting. But some guys here are like those abused and battered women who want to believe that their abuser still loves them until he finally kills them. Not me.
