Since 1954 I have not been without a SxS having two triggers & a splinter forearm. I have had forearms with snap off, Purdey style, Deely & push button releases. I like the Lefever push button or Deely lever best but that is not truly a deciding factor. I prefer 28 " barrels but have shot from 26" to 32". I have used several guns with 26" barrels & did not find them a handicap in any way. Have only shot two guns with 32" barrels, both 10 gauge. On is a very early Lefever side pivot top lever gun (3" chambers) which I only shot, did not take hunting, it weighs an even 10 lbs. The other was a Spanish made 3 1/2" magnum which belonged to my Father-in-law.He had carried me goose hunting on a public grounds next to a national wildlife reserve in Southern IL. We only had one flight come over low enough to shoot at & I was able to pull one big Canadian down with two shots fired.

Lightest shotgun I can recall shooting was a single barrel small frame H&R 28 gauge, weighed 4 lb 2 oz. My personal best shooting has been in guns weighing from 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 lbs, so for my use see little need for any gauges other than the 16 & 12.

Classic SxS game gun came with DTs, splinted and straight grip stock. Even though POW grip would be more practical the stock was made that way to make the gun look sleek and graceful. Being short and husky Churchill came up with 25" gun because he thought long barrels made him look shorter than he actually was. Style dictates shorter barrel for height-challenged people while long barrels are for tall people.

Hey Jagermeister, isn't that why you told us that you like those short barreled pump shotguns... because they make you look taller?

Too bad they couldn't make you look smarter too. Do you think you will ever have enough money to actually own even one double shotgun. Or do you plan on continuing to be an internet faker and pathetic tire-kicker who give useless advice on guns he has no practical experience with?

Nope, long receiver of repeater makes shorter-barreled gun more compact and better choice for HD use or use in brush or cover when hunting. That is why many choose self-loader or pump with 26" barrel for hunting. It has nothing to do with my height.

If I can find the post where you made the comment about short barrels making you look taller, will you go away and never come back?

Or are you telling us that you are lying once again?

No Dzadu. I noticed you posted on Winchester topic. Would you like to ask me something about Winchester Model 21?

OK Jagermeister, so you were lying to us once again. What else would we expect from an internet fraud and pathetic tire-kicker like you? Here is a direct QUOTE of the post where you said that "Shorter barrels will make me look taller."

This was from another one of your bullshit stories when you acted as if you were actually going to purchase a double shotgun and get beyond tire-kicking and drooling. It was from the " Help me choose Webley & Scott or Merkel 47e?" thread from 12/1/2016. Post #464309. I call this thread:

Jagermeister's Gun Buying Fantasy

Moses, I haven't decided yet, but right now W&S is the front runner for the following reasons given in no particular order:
1. Shorter barrels will make me look taller
2. I have couple buckets of 2.5" low recoil slugs from B&P plus several boxes of 2&1/4" Italian shells with SG shot. This is significant because by buying 25" SxS with open chokes I can dump my "Police type" HD guns leaving me with only one shotgun for both HD and hunting.
3. The W&S has professionally installed thin Pachmayr 'Old English" pad giving LOP of nearly 15". This will help with proper gun mounting and more importantly prevent gun from sliding on hardwood oak floors when stored behind doors or in corners of room(s). Such storage is prudent for gun serving HD role.
4. The W&S is $1000 less than the Merkel which represents substantial saving for what amounts to equal quality gun. Both are mass produced SxS shotguns.
and $1000 still buys lots of grocery bags even if Kosher and or Organic quality food products are chosen.
5. While both guns are in excellent mechanical order and still tight the English gun as expected is much easer to break down and put together. The German gun requires more force and strain to put back together and break down. This adds much to pleasure to using the English gun. Lets face it is no fun to break the gun "over the knee" to reload it.

Of course, in the end, you didn't buy either double, and you still don't own any doubles. So please tell us why a guy who doesn't own even one lousy double feels some sad sick need to pretend he knows so much about the subject?
