Depends on how much volume you need in the hull. Star crimp leaves much less volume in 2 1/2 inch hull.

Saskbooknut,

I was thinking of just that but I use fibre wads and a plastic shot cup and I can adjust the fibre wad if I'm running out of space.

You are set then.
Kent Gamebore 2 1/2 inch cartridges are stack wad and star crimped.
I have used them for my smokeless loads and loaded my own black powder cartridges in short hulls with a roll crimp.

I roll crimp my waterfowl loads and star crimp my lead/target loads. Very easy to tell if I have non-tox or lead.

I have a Mec 600 12ga and 16ga set up for short shells, Mec makes a kit.

BPI has one piece plastic wads that work well with light loads and short shells.
