I recently picked up a damascus barreled hammer gun made by Williams & Powell, Liverpool. The serial number is 8275. This is not a light game gun. Nothing too fancy, though it appears well made. It has 3" chambers and stout 30" barrels with Birmingham black powder proof marks. The bores are very good and I don't believe the chambers have been lengthened. The left barrel is marked Not For Ball with 12B (bore) and 14M (muzzle). The right barrel is marked 13.Would this be cylinder/full chokes? Would anyone be able to give me an approximate date of manufacture? I assume this would be a fowling piece due to the weight and chamber length. Would that be it's purpose and what type of loads would have been used with a gun like this? I am refinishing the barrels and repairing the stock as I would like to shoot this gun with low pressure shells. Thank you for any information or comments you have.
