I belong to two clubs here in California.
One in the Angeles National Forest and another in the mountains high above Santa Barbara.
I consider both of them to be "Rustic" in that staging for shooting is generally done off of the tailgate of one's pick-up truck.
I wanted cover for a very few remaining doubles that firstly didn't involve the assembly of said guns in the wilderness,
and I wanted to have nothing to do with buckles, zippers, snaps, hooks, Velcro or anything
that might mar any of the surfaces that I've come to admire.
I've got plenty of beautiful conventional leather cases but wanted something different.
Something not mass marketed, something simple.
Feasibility studies, market research, engineering, prototypes, material acquisition, blah, blah, blah...
I doubled the hide to a thickness of 2mm.
3/8" lambskin shearling was used to gently cradle my modest cabinet contents.

Wrapped in the comfort of my workbench.
Transported in the safety of the cab of my truck.
Gently placed on the tailgate prior to unwrapping and shooting.
Back on the wrap between rounds.
Wrapped and returned to the safety of the cab prior to the drive home.
Nothing could be finer! This Model 21 is the longest I'll wrap with 30" barrels and a LOP of 15 1/16
and all doubles suitable for wrapping are sub 6lbs, barely a wisp of a gun.
