Liege exported in 1889 firearms to the value of 724,440 l., being 233,944 l. in excess of the previous year; and the importance of the Liege gun trade, as compared with that of England and France, will be apparent from the following table of comparison of the arms proved in 1889 at Liege, Birmingham, and St. Etienne respectively:
