This was something that I got from a friend of mine for use when you find a tick on a person. Don't know if it will work on dogs.

Take a cotton ball and soak it in liquid soap, such as dish soap or hand soap, and I mean really soak it, dripping with soap, cover the tick with the cotton ball for about a minute, when you pull the cotton ball off the tick will come with it.

Hope it works.

As a professional upland guide and dog trainer I come across plenty of ticks on dogs. I've tried a lot of methods for removal over the years.....the best tool I've come across is the "Easy Grip Precision Compression Tick Remover". And don't forget the Frontline and Lyme Shots.

I have experienced about all the same issues related by others in my years with dogs, but since I switched to "K-9 Advantix" 2 years ago I have not found one single tick imbedded on either dog. I have found a couple crawling on the dogs and me right after coming in from the field, but not one has dug in, on them anyway. Before that I used Top Spot and Frontline. But, I think they all lose effectiveness over time as the bugs most susceptible to whatever new snake oil die off and get replaced by heartier critters. Just food for thought.
