Hello all,
How desireable/saleable is a Birmingham 8 gauge? This particular gun has the "not for ball" and 9B over 10M marks, it is a top lever hammer gun with significant case colour remaining and respectable wood with all checkering intact. It has substantial barrels that appear to be Twist with pattern only visable under foeend. The only issue I see is the forend lug has been reattched poorly.
If I loose interest would it be more or less dificult to sell than say a 10 gauge?
Thanks
Mark

Your 8 gauge will command a significant premium over a 10 or a 12 gauge all things being equal. You can't hunt migratory birds with them in the US, but they are damn fun to shoot. I don't have my copy of proof marks booklet in front of me, but the "not for ball" stamp will bin the date of production prettily narrowly if the mnaker's records are not avaiable.

I would love to have an 8 gauge. Not sure why, but as a life long waterfowler and reader of waterfowl lore, having an 8 gauge would be very nice.

There was a collection of 11 American and European 8 gauges at the Vegas show 2 years ago. There are always 4 gauges at the same show.

An eight gauge with significant condition is a hot item in the present market. What make is your gun?
