Classic Guns has done several guns for me. Always very happy with their work. Best to see an example of the colors that someone produces before you just send it out to them. There is a big difference in what you will get. Some do better blue, red or straw colors than others. I like the old Remington 1894 colors which are heavy in blues and water colors but not real good for a Fox.

Turnbull is great. Im luck enough to have them close by. Turn around time is usually pretty good too. Some dont like how bright the colors are and prefer more subtle colors. I think It depends on the gun what looks good.

Woody, does Doug do cyanide as well as bone charcoal pack case hardening? All the photos I've seen of his work looked to be charcoal pack case-hardening.
Thanks, SRH

Charcoal only as far as I know. His bluing is great too. Does rust bluing, charcoal and nitrate bluing. Ive had several single actions done over the years Im think of having a lever gun done.

Jeff: you've no doubt been there, but for the rest of us, click on "Grades" for a nice collection of original Fox colors. https://www.foxcollectors.com/I believe Researcher shared that Fox switched from bone charcoal to cyanide colors c. 1918-19 A limited collection of original and re-case colors is here for comparison with other makers, and some hideous torch work at the bottom http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/12588446Please give it a rest Ed. I have more examples. "RECEIVER HAS BEEN RECOLORED AND NOW APPEARS SIMILAR TO ORIGINAL ITHACA FACTORY COLORS"

and in the used gun market, documented refinish work by turnbull brings better return than guns with undocumented work or work done by others....

Turnbull does great work and stands behind it, BUT look at Ray StLedger colors on English guns and rifles compared to the coloring by Turnbull. St ledger (spelling?) color hardening has blue, brown, grey colors, not the red normally seen on Turnbull coloring of English guns.
