What is the best way to age a Galazan period correct recoil pad, to cosmetically match a 100 plus year old English gun?
Thanks for any suggestions

I mark it up with a Black Sharpie then go over it several times with Brown roll on shoe polish and buff it out between coats of shoe polish.

The next time you swab out a barrel, use the burned powder and gun oil to wipe around the side of the new pad. This can be repeated until the proper "aging" is reached.

6 months of use and regular gun oil wipedowns will get it looking fine.

I'm with Dudley, however I've seen some sorry looking pads that were on 100 year old guns. Perhaps adding a little patina in the form of used tea bags as is done to some paper trade labels?

I've been advised to use a muslin buffing wheel and Vaseline to get rid of the new look. I think dirtying it up like Drew said before the buffing might work very well. Haven't tried it yet, tho'. Will soon.
