There is also a very, very active and extensive BBS for S&W handguns. The Model 27 is IMO one of the finest handguns ever made. The parts are all milled/machined, not "MIM" and were hand fitted by skilled craftsmen. The only difference in the 27 and 28 is the degree of polish to the external metal, the 28 being the cheaper/police version. The 27/28 have some of the best triggers ever to leave a factory, 'course that was when there was still an American work ethic and folks took honest pride in their work. I recently acquired a 27(no dash) that has never been fired, 5" barrel(rare) in the box with paperwork. Figure it is and investment as select S&W models have far outpaced the market.
