Maybe not so great they are doubling their prices to match the southern SXS and not having exhibitors

You can access the program through Facebook. Need to scroll down to extra post and it will pop up. I shoot at Elk Creek often but dont shoot at many events there. They have three basic courses from beginner, to competent shooter to their ridge line course which they can crank up to the good luck with that type targets. Ive shot it too often to find it that interesting for a shoot. Each course is kind of limited by physical terrain.

Looking at the Elk Creek website it says no shotgun barrels under 26, so if someone shows up with a Churchill 25 he cant shoot? Shotgun shells must be boxed? My reloads go in a leather bag. Meaningless irritating rules.

If you saw their location youd understand. Large shot will carry off property. Several stations look directly at houses which large shot could reach. The 26 rule is to eliminate people showing up with home defense shotguns. The reason for boxes is their assumption that what is written in the box reflects whats inside the box And too many reloaders will bring 115 shells to shoot 100 birds. Looking at a bag of shells does not tell you how many are in that bag.
I like their club as a whole. Very nice people. 2/3 of their courses are still run on the honor system of targets without a card limiting the number of birds thrown. If I owned it every course would be run off a prepaid card. Its embarrassing how many regulars abuse the system and shoot extra targets which they dont pay for. Same men load 28 shells to every box. Weve shot there so many times we dont watch birds before shooting. First man up loads two and shoots like real hunting conditions. We alternate leadoff shooters to keep it fair for all.

I always carry more than 100 shells if I'm shooting a round of 100 SC targets. Same reason I always have a couple extras if I'm shooting a round of skeet. Broken bird of a pair . . . pair over. The large shot thing makes good sense and is in force at most clubs. Shouldn't be much need for anything bigger than 7 1/2 when shooting clays.

Thanks for the clarification on the range rules KY Jon. Bad neighbors and the Nanny State have forced shooting sports businesses to CYA. Not long ago a small group of us went to a sporting clays range under new management. First time shooters at that range had to undergo/endure a 30 minute safety lecture and demonstrate profeciency with your shotgun by loading and firing at 6 singles. Understandably, because theres lots of poor gun handling out there . I hope the Commonwealth SxS is a great success.

Larry, I understand a few extra shells may be required. But some people just abuse it. You do not need five boxes to shoot 100 targets. I have seen shooters shoot a full box on a station and then go on to the next station and keep on shooting.
I know the KY club was having an extreme problem with shooters abusing a few extra shells. Mostly it was regulars who felt they were entitled to a few extra free birds. Their best course is the Blue course, their ridge line course and it is by card only instead of the honor system. It suffers about a third less waste. Waste is broken birds, extra view pairs and extra targets shot. If I owned them all courses would be by pre paid card type system.
