I spoke to Mr. Harold Faulkner and his daughter, Gunmakers from Cheshire who are just over the Wales/England border, maybe15 miles away from Wrexham. They think John Jones and Horatio Jones were father and son. Judging by the dates on record it would seem that J. Jones was the father.
Mr. Faulkner has an old stock from a Jones gun which had a little surprise under the butt plate which he kindly allowed me to take a picture of.
He'd kept the piece as a momento, he (like myself) has an interest in the history of the local gunmakers who have come and gone over the years.
