My wife and I went with another couple 2 years ago and rather than stay in a hotel we rented a two bedroom apartment. It was great. I felt very at home and it was less expensive than a hotel for the four of use. Try "London Connection". I think that was what we booked through. We stayed in Chelsea near the Sloane Square tube which is very convenient to everything.

PS - the only shop I made it to was the Beretta store which had some very nice specimans on the 3rd floor.
