With many gunsmiths, or with many other craftsman for that matter, certain jobs will get relegated to "tomorrow', or, "next week". I have a set of barrels with a 'smith waiting to be fitted to a gun. They have been with him for 1 1/2 years. His website says he does this service, but he actually specializes in another type of gun work. I could send him a set of triggers to be reworked and have them back in a week. I've done it several times. But, when I leave a message about the barrels, concerning the progress being made on them, I hear nothing back.
Some jobs are not as profitable for gunsmiths as others, IMO. Others are. It's not a judgement on them, it's life. Roll the dice.
