A certified Browning repairman told me that Jones. Thats all I know about the statement, but its a fact thats what he told me. Franchi says not to put anything on their friction sleeve. Try shooting an A5 dry....forget about it. Are you an A5 expert or what Jones?

Some of the early guns were short chambered. | | |

We sold lots of them in a shop I worked in years ago. Browning packed a lump of tallow with each gun to lube the tube.
I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong

Try shooting an A5 dry....forget about it. Are you an A5 expert or what Jones? I'm down to five of them Buzz. They are all reliable guns, in ALL weather unlike ones lubed with 30 weight oil. You are repeating unsound advice.

A buddy of mines grandads A5 had the recoil spring literally packed in grease...kicked like a Georgia mule and the forearm was cracked....back in the day when an A5 hickuped common practice was to apply more oil or grease.
Hear tell they don't like much earl.

I don't think they like much earl.
Quite preceptive. People misuse a good design and it gets a reputation for unreliability and cracked forends.

We sold lots of them in a shop I worked in years ago. Browning packed a lump of tallow with each gun to lube the tube. First I've heard of it, but it's not a bad idea. A little wax is a far cry from what I've seen them literally dunked in. We have better stuff than tallow now, but excess lube and heavy lubes are to be avoided.

Some of the early guns were short chambered. True. A 1963 gun will have a 2 3/4" chamber.

Close to exhibition wood for an A5 I'm guessing. It's a very nice gun Bob. I would be quite pleased to own that one!
