Gray Market guns are generally guns brought into the country from overseas dealers by independent gun dealers and marketed at a substantial discount on what the local distributor is pricing his guns.

As an authorised factory distributorthese people are expected to carry large stocks of guns and parts and provide service back up for the product.

If a pirate opperator brings in guns and sells them at low margins and provides no back up, why should the Authorised Distributor warrant these guns.

No business man is going to invest in a business that can be pirated. Try buying a grey market Ford or Chevrolet, in the auto industry if a dealer sells a new product to a non authorised dealer for resale thier franchise is terminated immediately.

The reputation of any product is only as good as the warranty and service back up and this can only be achieved through the franchise system where Manufacturers can demand what dealers must do to earn and keep thier franchise, and can where necessary fire a dealer for non compliance.

A few bucks saved on the purchase price can turn sour when you find the gun needs to go back to the dealer in the country from where it origionally came.

I fully support any manufacturer procting the value of his Franchise.
