In WWI there were 1400 of the rifles above built, but the MArines also bought 1000 loose scopes in 1918 as well.
Also the Navy bought 513 A5 scopes in early 1917 that were also loose. Which I have never figured out why they bought them.
So you are talking WRA sold 513 to the Navy, 900 to the Army, and 1500 to the Marines in 1917/18. So you are talking almost 2900 A5 scopes, and a lot were sold right after the war.
Also the Navy bought 374 B5, 117 B4, and 65 B-3.
There were just a lot of these scopes floating around that were govt purchase.
