We were up early making the final preps for a big turkey dinner (that's lunch to the rest of y'all) for the family and daughter in law's family. Two turkey breasts are about to go on the grill, table's set, and the "high chair" awaits. This is a very special day for us. One year ago our youngest son, who is 41 and has two teenage boys, announced that the "high chair" would be called into duty once more. We were ecstatic a few months later to learn that it would be a girl ...................more specifically, the first girl child born to a man of my direct line in 97 years!! Kate Louise was born July 25, healthy as can be. The old "high chair" won't be used by her today, as she's still too young for it, but will be at future get-to-gethers. Blessings to you all on this special holiday. May your larders be full. SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

May God smile upon you on this day of thankfulness. We are expecting our three sons, wives and five grandkids and a brother and sister to enjoy the day.
So many guns, so little time!

Going for a quick duck hunt, peanut oil starts heating at 10AM Turkey goes in at 11AM, turkey out at Noon, and rests a bit, turkey gets carved, 12:30 Grace is said, and eating begins.
This will be a time of thanksgiving to God, fun and fellowship.

Stan; I am still a Southern Country Boy, I have Breakfast, Dinner & Supper. Never did figure out what the "LunchRoom" was for at school, cause I always ate dinner in it. I won't have as big a crowd this year as normal. My Son & his family are not going to be able to come this year, as well as one Daughter who is in California. My other Daughter will be here & her father-in-law who recently lost his Wife of some 60 years. My sister who lost her husband about 5 years ago, but they had no children. One of my Grandaughters just recently married & her & her New husband will be here as will our other Grandson who is 13. My Wife & I, of course, will be here.
For several years now I have been using an Infra-Red cooker for the turkey. I find the flavor to be as good as the oil fried & saves all the hassle of all that oil as well as the fire dangers.

The very best to all of you and your families on this most thankful day.
I've come to realize that I have what I really need, and what I want, I don't need.

Congrats Stan on the new grand-daughter
Thanksgiving is going to be different today, my five year old Audrey is in Children's Mercy Hospital. Monday, my wife took her to her doctor, Audrey had what looked like bug bites on her legs. The doctor didn't think they were bug bites and asked for a followup visit on Wednesday, the spots had grown in size, and become hard and hot, some are about 2 inches in diameter. The doctor recommended she go to the emergency ward at Children's Mercy and they admitted her, they have her on antibiotics, but still have no idea what the cause of the spots are. My wife stayed with her during the night, while I looked after our son. Audrey doesn't seem to have an uncontrollable fever or anything like that, and seems in good spirits. But it is a scary way to spend Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I do miss the Thanksgiving morning hunts on the farm across the road from where we used to live in Iowa. Became a tradition for me and my son . . . until a gentleman from Des Moines bought that farm, mostly for "recreational purposes". Ended our hunts there . . . but he still let me fish his farm pond. Took numerous stringers of big bluegills out of that pond. Serious fighters on a 4 weight fly rod.

Thanks, PhysDoc.
Audrey is lifted in prayer for healing, and for wisdom for the doctors who attend her.
Best, SRH
